Meet Our CEO: Marissa Atiya

This Women's History month we features our own CEO, Marissa Atiya.

This 28-year-old is a multi-hyphenated powerhouse. As the founder of 4Curls, a certified personal trainer and best-selling author, she is a leader. Our resident "Boss" was born in Atlanta, GA, and attended the "black ivy" Hampton University. Although she graduated from the University of Louisville with a degree in Health and Human Performance, she is a true-blue Pirate.

In 2019, Marissa decided to share her secrets for longer, stronger, more manageable hair. Her book, Naturally Going Natural, gives readers practical tips and hacks for embracing their natural hair journey. In addition, this super-competitive athlete wanted to challenge the beauty industry by offering a plant-based, clean beauty brand for naturally curly hair textures. So, she collaborated with another scientist, her mom, to develop 4Curls hair care products.

In her personal trainer practice, she helps women celebrate their bodies and often speaks to groups and organizations about achieving better physical and financial health.

Marissa is inspired by change and loves travel. To date, she has traveled to Monrovia (Liberia), Accra (Ghana), Havana (Cuba), Barbados, Toronto (Canada), Trinidad, Haiti, Mexico, Bahamas, and throughout North America.

In her community, Marissa volunteers and sits on the board of Change We Seek.  This foundation offers grants to nonprofits that provide financial empowerment training to young Black and brown girls. In fact, 10% of every 4Curls sales goes to support this foundation.

Marissa Atiya represents what it means to celebrate culture and community.

She and 4Curls are Black history in the making.
