Daily Affirmations for Black Women: Mental Health Day 2021

This year's theme for World Mental Health Day (October 10th) is 'Mental Health in an Unequal World' underlines the pressing need to focus sufficiently on health beyond the physical in a sustained way in a world still struggling to fight the coronavirus.

Health is not merely the absence of disease, it is the complete package: physical, mental, and social well-being. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), mental health is a state of well-being in which the individual realizes their abilities, can cope with the everyday stresses of life, work productively, and contribute to the community.

Daily Affirmations

Daily affirmations can strengthen self-worth and create a more positive mind frame of mind.  Reciting and journaling affirmations can boost your confidence and your ability to achieve your goals. Many people report that daily affirmations help them counter the feelings of panic, stress, and self-doubt.

Here are some tips to help your affirmations reinforce your value and self-worth

  1. Make them personal- Use names of specific people, places, or things you want to affirm. Instead of "I want a better job" try, I want to be the CEO of (insert your name or company).

  2. Repeat each affirmation 10 times- Listen to yourself say the words. Play with  inflection, volume, and tone.

  3. Recruit a friend - this makes the process more fun and keeps you accountable.

  4. Be consistent- make it a ritual. Do it daily like when you put on lotion, fix your hair, or drive to work.

Here are a few positive hair growth affirmations to get you started.

You are your own best thing. So take time each day to honor your mental health.
